Nice photos!
Am moving to Virginia Beach in Old Beach, next week! Have kayaked once or twice, but my husband and I plan to buy kayaks and your trips will be a great guide for us to get going. We were down finding a place to live last week and went out to the Back Bay sanctuary. Thanks for sharing your trips!

The Pocaty creek bridge is completed. I have not tried to portage since completion it seems a lot more difficult and parking will have to be around the corner a bit.

South side of the bridge is historically better, seems it gets worse the further north you go, more of a flushing action with the North Landing River...

I don't know that I'd ever be brave enough to eat anything I caught out of there, too much urban run off...

Read your assessment of WNC. Bummer, since I was going to try and fish this spot as soon as the weather warmed. But I guess trash is just part of life now on the water. Similar to a long walk along Sandbridge shoreline at the Refuge. Lots of plastic from who knows where. You and I have the exact boat and same color. Awesome. Keep the faith.
